The isotope group of HCRM participated at the 1st Research Coordination Meeting (RCM) of the IAEA F33030 “Development and Applications of Isotopic Techniques to Assess Nutrient Fluxes from the Land to Sea and Their Link to Eutrophication and Harmful Algal Blooms (Linking nutrient fluxes, eutrophication, and HABs)” project that was held at the IAEA headquarters, Vienna, Austria in 24-27 November 2025.
The group agreed to collect surface water and representative groundwater samples on a bimonthly basis to be analyzed for water isotopes (δ18O and δ2H of H2O), nitrate isotopes (δ15N and δ18O of NO3–) and conventional hydrochemical parameters (e.g., nutrients). Remote sensing data will be used to assess groundwater discharges, while hydrological models will be applied to estimate nutrient inputs to the sea.
